Good News From Wallace
Thank you, Thank you! Wallace Month (February) was once again a great success with you donating over $35,000.00 to the operation of the center! In addition to money you have made many contributions of school supplies, paper products, cleaning supplies, games, stamps, soup bar codes and more. We board members and the staff sincerely appreciate your generosity. These gifts will touch many lives as they are used to continue the operation of the center.
In January we hired Mr. Jeremy Williams of Cheraw as our new Program Coordinator. Jeremy has a degree in computer science and has upgraded our system to maximize its use. He enjoys working with the children and is a great asset to our program.
It has been my privilege to visit five units so far this year to tell our story. Some other board and staff members have gone to other places as well. Feel free to contact us if you would like to have someone come to your area to talk about Wallace Family Life Center.
As summer approaches you might want to schedule a time for your unit to visit the center and see our Summer Reading Program in operation. Also gifts of foods for breakfast, lunch and snacks are appreciated in the summer. If you would like to visit or to contribute you can call Corina Esaw or Jeremy Williams at 843-479-7991.
On a r ecent visit to the center I asked Ms. Esau about current needs at the center and she expressed a desire to have more books from the Accelerated Reader Book lists, specifically those books that are Newberry and Caldecott Medal Award winners. I found list of these online by googling “Caldecott Award Winners” and “Newberry Award Winners”. If you are shopping for a gift for the center please remember this need.
